The Women's City Club of Detroit was founded in 1919. Known as the Organization Committee, the small group of women came up with a constitution and bylaws, and rented space in a building on Bagley Avenue in downtown Detroit. By 1922 plans were made for the construction of their own building at Park Avenue and Elizabeth Street, which opened two years later.
